It has come to our attention that a Bitcoin recruitment scam is targeting freelancers in the APAC region by illegally using a cloned version of the Made brand name and website.

The unscrupulous individuals or organisation behind this fraudulent scheme are reaching out to freelancers via email, on platforms such as LinkedIn and WhatsApp with the promise of ongoing work in return for a large upfront payment. Usually that payment is requested in Bitcoin.

We never send unsolicited emails to freelancers and have a strict recruitment process in place. We are not currently recruiting and have no positions available but when a role does open up, it will only appear on our official channels.

We have reported this fraud to the police here in the UK, Action Fraud and other relevant authorities and are working with the ISP and domain name registrar to get the fake websites taken down.

If you have been contacted about a job at Made and asked to deposit money, it is a scam. To help you stay safe:

  • Do not respond to the email or message
  • Block the sender immediately
  • Do not make a payment to the sender
  • Do not click on any links in the email or message
  • Don’t call any of the telephone numbers they provide
  • Don’t share any personal details with the sender

If you have been contacted by these individuals, we would like to help. We have a case open with Action Fraud and can provide the crime reference number if you’d like to quote it in your report. Please contact us with any information hello@made.agency.
